Let's Go Fly a Kite!

For the last class of the school holidays, we held a 'Let's Go Fly a Kite' workshop at Blaxland Library.  First, the children were kite designers - creating four different designs and then choosing their favourite design for the final kite. 

We used a kite kit each for the kites, which we assembled once the design was drawn on with fabric markers. 









Below are the wonderful final kites - now all we need is a sunny, breezy day to test them out!

Plants Vs Zombies in the Library!

Katoomba library was transformed into the set for a computer game today, Plants Vs Zombies. Over twenty young adventurers became plants and zombies in order to battle it out using giant peas! 

First we chose what team we wanted to be on, Plants or Zombies. Then, the kids made a mask reflecting the character they wanted to be. 

I placed fluorescent-coloured rocks and sticks on the ground to mark out the boundaries of our game, and put on PvZ music to set the scene. 

Soft green foam balls were the 'peas', which peashooters threw at the approaching zombies.

Summer Stencils

Summer Stencils in the last week of the holidays...sea creatures, dinosaurs, insects and all sorts of other animals - have a look at the great and colourful work the Katoomba class created :)

Paint used: Student's acrylic
Brushes: A variety of art and craft brushes, including stippling brushes and toothbrushes
Paper: 80gsm white paper
