Dotty Art

Inspired by the works of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, Blaxland art class created 2D dotty art on cardboard today.

What we used:
Scissors
Sticker paper (office labels)
Rolls of circle stickers from the newsagent
Pencils
Circular objects for tracing around (bottle caps, empty tape rolls, toilet rolls, jar lids)
Coloured cardboard

This class is good especially for teaching about contrasting colours. Have a look at the wonderful results!

Totally Tubular Bracelets

These Spring school holidays, Maxine from Blaxland Library and I taught some ‘Totally Tubular’ classes - making jewellery and decorations using clear vinyl tubing. The results are stunning and they were great fun to make!

We offered several projects during each class -
*Wrapping textured and coloured wool around tubing to create bracelets and hangings (linked like paper chains)
*Filling tubes with fabric, seed beads, glitter and sequins (with or without adding baby oil for a floaty effect)
*Pouring glow paint and glitter into the tubing

Each bracelet was sealed using waterproof superglue (only adults could do this step!) on a piece of wood dowel, which fit snugly in the two ends of tubing.
