Op Art Space
After discussing the concept of zentangles and looking at examples, the class was left to create eye-catching freeform optical designs inspired by the theme 'space'. We used bright pink backgrounds for extra psychedelic effect!
Materials:
Pink cardboard
Lead Pencils
Textas
Poscas
I laid out a few objects to trace - masking tape (tracing inner or outer circles for planets), rulers, and foam star shapes.

Chalk Pastel Barn Owls
I have to say I'm extremely impressed with results of this class, inspired by Mary Making Blog
We drew our barn owls on brown paper bags, outlined them in black pencil/texta, added chalk pastel colouring, and then cut out and pasted the owls onto cardboard backgrounds to make them pop.

Painted Wall Hangings
Here are a few of the wonderful wall hangings created in Katoomba by kids these school holidays.
I sewed the banners from calico, creating a looped space at the top to thread wooden doweling through. We used crocheted cord to string them up.
The students had the option of using Posca pens, sharpies, fabric paint or acrylic paint, as well as pom-poms, feathers and beads to decorate their banners.
