Babushka Doll Designs
The class today designed their own Babushka (or 'Matryoshka') nesting dolls, inspired by traditional Russian and contemporary designs. We had some pixel dolls, family dolls, animals, zombies, minions and even the same person at different ages. Once we drew the designs, we cut them out and pasted the dolls onto coloured paper, for contrast. I love the results!

3D Hand Drawings
This is hands-down (pun intended) my favourite art class for kids (and adults!). It's class on shading, and making hands look '3D'. To do this, trace your hand, then draw the curves in like we have in these examples. Then colour in each section, from left to right, colouring dark to light and then darker again. Try to shade in a gradual way to make it look realistic. It has a really impressive result.
GREAT WORK EVERYONE!

Ssssnakes in the grass!
This class is based on the Deep Space Sparkle painting and pastel lesson, here, except using collage instead. We drew winding snakes and then decorated them with bright colours. Next, we cut out blades of grass, perfect for the snakes to hide in, and stuck them to the bottom of the cloud photo. Lastly we glued the snakes winding in and out of the blades of grass. This is a nice Summer art project. Check them out!

Pixel Art
Pixel art is usually digital art, made up of little squares. Computer games used to look very blocky (and some newer games, like Minecraft, look this way on purpose). Today we created pixel drawings, using the squares on graph paper as a guide to create pixel self portraits and game-inspired artworks. Great work everyone!
